Toby Armstrong is a freelance clarinettist working and performing in Sydney. Whilst completing a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Music Studies Toby majored in clarinet performance under the tuition of Deborah de Graaff, and went on to complete two other majors in gender studies and philosophy. He also holds an A.Mus.A and an L.Mus.A.
In recent years Toby has performed in the Sydney University Opera Company’s production of Britten’s Turn of the Screw, worked with Kammerklang performing new works by young Australian composers, and has maintained an interest in more traditional repertoire through guest appearances with the Lennox Quartet. He has performed with chronology arts since 2007.
As well as his musical pursuits Toby works full-time in health promotion and is an active member of several GLBT community organisations.
