Reomi Mito began learning the piano at the age of four. She has been studying with Neta Maughan for twelve years. She obtained her AMusA at the age of thirteen in 2001, and her LMusA in 2002. She is currently studying at the University of Sydney.
Reomi attended Roseville College on a full music scholarship. In 2005 she completed her HSC, and was placed first in HSC Music Extension and second in Music 2. She was selected to perform at Encore, (an annual concert held at the Sydney Opera House for outstanding performances and compositions by HSC Music students). Her composition was also listed in the honour roll for Encore.
Reomi has won over 100 prizes in competitions around Sydney, including many scholarships and major sections. For six years, she was selected to play on radio, as part of the 2MBS-FM Even Younger Performers live broadcasts. Reomi has also been invited to play in many concerts around Sydney, including the Australian Opera Auditions Committee Concerts, Australian Society for Keyboard music, Australian Musicians Academy Concerts and the Joan Sutherland Birthday Concert. She has also given recitals for many local Rotary and Music clubs.
She has also had successes in international competitions. In 2002, at the age of 14, she entered in the IBLA Grand Prize International Competition in Italy, receiving second prize in both the 21years and under category and 17 years and under category. She was also awarded special prizes for “Special Mention for Talent” and “Most Accomplished Pianist”. In 2003, she was awarded equal first in the 7th Junior Music competition in Japan, and third in the All Japan Musica Concours. She was also awarded third place and Honorable mention in the 6th Pinault International Piano Competition in the USA.
