Morgan Merrell

Morgan Merrell in an upcoming musician studying composition and conducting in Sydney. His music is known for its emotion and he specialises in 20th and 21st Century Experimental music in his works. Morgan has had his compositions performed by such ensembles as the Sydney Sinfonietta and the Sydney Omega Ensemble and various solo performers such as Peter Smith and Joanna Argall. Morgan is the Ensemble Director/Conductor of Chronology Arts and he also manages and performs in other such ensembles as The Unimportants, Epicology and the experimental improvisatory ensemble Double Vision Duo. Morgan has conducted many concerts in Sydney and his focus is on conducting 21st Century music in an aim to promote and bring a higher standard to the style. Morgan completed his Higher School Certificate at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music High School in 2008 and is studying at the Conservatorium University doing a BMus (comp) in 2009. Morgan has also worked extensively as a percussionist with such orchestras as Ku-Ring-Gai Philharmonic Orchestra, Sydney Youth Orchestra, SBS Youth Orchestra, Strathfield Symphony Orchestra and many others through the guidance of Ric Miller. Morgan has also studied under such people as Trevor Pierce in composition. Morgan looks forward to working with Sydney’s growing generation of Experimental Musicians in an effort to promote Classical Contemporary Music and Australian Music.
