Erika Simons

Erika Simons is a Sydney based coloratura soprano studying under the tutelage of Maree Ryan. Erika received her Bachelor of Music with High Distinction from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2008 and is now in her second year of the Advanced Diploma of Opera. 
Erika has performed the roles of Rodelinda from Handel’s Rodelinda,Thérèse from Poulenc’s Les Mamelles de Tiresias and Amor from Gluck’s Orphée et Eurydice. In 2008, Erika performed the soprano solos from Bach’s Der Herr denket an uns  BVW 196 for an ABC Classic FM Sunday Live broadcast with the Conservatorium’s Early Music Ensemble conducted by Neal Peres da Costa.
Erika has also performed with a number of orchestras and choirs in Sydney as the soprano soloist in Mozart’s Requiem at St Andrews Cathedral with the University of Sydney Musical Society and the BMinor Mass by Bach with The Sydney University Graduate Choir and Orchestra. Erika has also appeared as Amphitrite in The Tempest by Purcell with the Sydney Philharmonia Choirs and Orchestra conducted by Brett Weymark.
Upcoming engagements include Serafina in The Sydney Conservatorium’s production of Il Campanello by Donizetti (May 2010).
