Antonio Neilley-Menendez de Llano
Antonio started learning piano at the age of 4 and the tuba at the age of 10. He studied the tuba with Arthur Hubbard and then with SSO Principal Tubist Steve Rossé when he attended the Conservatorium High School in Sydney. He held the position of Principal Tuba with the Australian Youth Orchestra for the 2005, 2006 and 2007 seasons including the 50th Anniversary International Tour to Europe.
Antonio is currently doing a Bachelor of Music Performance at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music studying under Steve Rossé. He has worked with some Australia's premier orchestras including the Sydney Symphony, the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra, The Queensland Orchestra and the Tasmanian Symphony.
He has strong a strong interest in the fusion of world music and jazz and is a keen enthusiast of funk tuba. Playing new music is another of his passions and he's always willing to help composers push the boundaries of traditional tuba writing.
