Eleanor Betts completed her Bachelor of Music with First Class Honours in 2005 and is currently completing her Masters of Music, studying with Susan Blake. Eleanor has played in masterclasses in Sydney for such artists as Steven Isserlis and Antonio Meneses and has performed with the Sydney Symphony’s Sinfonia program, Canberra Symphony Orchestra and the Australian Youth Orchestra. In 2007 Eleanor spent three months studying intensively in Budapest, Vienna and the UK with the aid of a Reg Waite Award, Sydney Moss Travelling Scholarship, and grants from the Ian Potter Cultural Trust and the JB Seed Fund. In 2008, Eleanor was selected for the Summer Cello Masterclass Program at the Banff Centre for the Arts in Canada studying with such cellists as Raphael Wallfisch and Andres Diaz, while her duo Strelitzia was given a full scholarship to study and perform at the Toronto Summer Music Festival with artists such as Andre Laplante, Paul Katz, Dennis Brot and Menahem Pressler. With her duo Strelitzia, Eleanor has given numerous recitals for Sydney music associations and broadcasts for 2MBS-FM and will tour regional NSW during 2009. www.strelitziaduo.com
