Born in Sydney, Australia in 1983, Mark started composing at an early age with a keen interest in improvisation and experimentation with electronics/midi.
Mark attended Newtown High School of the Performing Arts, where he developed a keen interest in jazz, composition and the dramatic arts. In 2006 he Graduated from a Bachelor of Music program, with first class honours. Mark has studied with such composers as Michael Smetanin, Mary Finsterer, Damien Ricketson, Luca Francesconi, Rolf Wallin, P.Q. Phan, Jeffery Hass and David Ward-Steinmann.
Having travelled extensively and been invited to international workshops and festivals, Mark’s music has been performed in Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Italy, Germany, Eritrea and the U.S.A. His music has been played by such ensembles as the Greenway Quartet, Nexas, Orchestra Victoria, Darwin Symphony Orchestra, Altera Verita, IVE Choir, Metz- Theatre Ensemble and BIT 20.
In 2009 Mark will work closely with, and have his music premiered by, the Bourbaki Ensemble, the Song Company and Chronology Arts.
Now pursuing his Masters degree in Composition, Mark is currently on scholarship at the Jacobs School of Music at the University of Indiana. He has recently received the Dean’s Prize for Electronic Music (2008).
