Elias studied piano and composition at the Conservatorium of Music. He has had a number of his works performed and broadcast including Forge (2000), Stomp (2001) at Angel Place and Hollow Voices (2001) on ABC. He was a composer in the inaugural chronology concert series with his work Deipnosophist (2007). More recently he has been working as a composer/producer in a variety of genres including Film, Popular and Contemporary Dance. He was the musical director and composer with choreographer Vicki Van Hout on Whales Songlines (2004), Wirad Journi (2006) at Riverside theatre and My Right Foot (2007). He was a composer/video artist with Vicki Van Hout in residence at Critical Path (2008). A second residency was received for late 2008 at the Carriage Works to develop this work further. He is currently completing a new work for the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra to be premiered in early 2009. He remains devoted to new music and supports the growth of the scene in Australia.
